What Legislation Covers Electrical Signs?

The type of signage required by law is covered by the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations of 1996. These regulations cover the application, provision and maintenance of safety signs, and also refer to issues such as instruction and training, stating that employers are required to ensure that employees receive “suitable and sufficient instruction and training" with regard to the meanings of the safety signs within their business premises, and the measures that must be taken in connection with those safety signs.

There are also British Standards and International Standards Regulations in place that cover electrical warning signs in the workplace. BS5378-1 covers the colours and design of safety signs at work, including electrical hazard signs, and ISO 7010 sets a technical standard for graphical hazard symbols on safety signs.
