Meeting Legislation

The guidelines for this legal requirement are governed by the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996.
This legislation states that safety signals, lights and other signals are required when, despite having put all other necessary safety measures into place, a significant risk to the health and safety of employees, visitors and other members of the public remains.
All Safety Signs displayed in premises must be clear, prominently displayed and legible. They may be used to identify hazards, areas of risk, safety measures, prohibited access, safeguarding instructions that must be followed or other information about health and safety in the business.
Signs may also be required to mark out areas such as the reception area, male and female washrooms, and the canteen, and to display instructions for responsible waste management.
